Every day, we make choices. The simplest choice is often to do or not to do. To some, it ain’t as simple. Sometimes, we’ll have an influence to make a certain choice.
Last December, I completed the written portion of the application process to join American Ninja Warrior. It took about three hours, including my history with athleticism and personal life.
The final step was to create a 2-3-minute video. I told myself in December that I’ll do it in January because it’s busy during the holidays. Keep in mind, the deadline for submission is 1.11.15.
When the new year hit, I was determined to stop talking about stuff and doing it. In other words, one of my resolutions was to have the Nike mentality:
Just do it!
Then Saturday, 1.3.15, I caught the flu…for five days. See previous slice Flus Rush In. Before getting sick, I scheduled to make the video on my day off on Monday, 1.5.15. Because I was sick, I chose not to do it. Understandable, right?
Last Friday, 1.9.15, fate stepped in. I received a call and voicemail from a lady from American Ninja Warrior. I called Courtney back and we discussed my sick situation and submitting my video before deadline in two days. I told her that if I do make a video, it won’t be spectacular. She ensured me that as long as it is simple and a good representation of myself, that should be fine.
That one call was just the push I needed to finish what I started – the application. I feel fortunate enough to have American Ninja Warrior call me directly, giving me motivation to take the step to fulfill my dream of being on the show.
Bottom line: We won’t alwaze have an influence such as a phone call that will help us make decisions, but hints from the universe may linger to guide the way. Either way, choose your own destiny.
In my next slice, I’ll discuss the video-making process I endured to make deadline, including a link to my video. Stay tuned, loyal readers!
